Madonna made me mad!

This one was a tricky one. Madonna, a megastar for decades, clearly did not want to be painted as part of my Music Icons series as she fought me all the way, taking much longer to complete than any of her fellows on my studio wall.
It started with – which #Madonna would I paint? This is a woman who changes her image every fortnight. I ended up choosing the one that seemed most 'natural', as I try to see the person, not the persona – though with a chameleon like her I don't know if that's possible.
Anyway, this is the Madonna of more than 20 years ago and I like to think I 'got' her in the end. Whether she's your preferred version of Madonna, only you can say.
