Adding to my series of Music Icons portraits, I really had to include a Rolling Stone and I really had to start it up with Mick Jagger.

Setting him a 'few' years ago, by then he'd grown into that distinctive face – and he turned out to be quite the compelling subject.

(Funny how, whichever 'icon' I'm painting, a lot of their music pops up on the radio while I work. Hadn't heard so many Stones songs since my cousin's 70th birthday party... she's a massive fan.)

Like other portraits in this series, this original 18x24in oil on canvas will be released for sale in early October when it goes on show at my six-week Athelhampton exhibition, though prints should soon be available. Do get in touch if you're interested.

Meanwhile, today being the last Sunday in the month it's Bridport Vintage Market at St Michael's, and I will be there from 10am(ish) up in the studio, painting away but open to the public if you'd like to swing by. You might even see my Jagger!
